We missed last week's post but here is what you missed..
What your vet wishes you knew- Why we offer nail trims free with exams and why we won't do them if your pet get's too stressed.
Most of our current clients know that we offer free nail trims with paid examinations. At Broadway Veterinary Hospital, we try to offer exchange in abundance when we can. So long as a pet is current on a rabies vaccine and will allow a nail trim, we will trim the pet's nails for free with a paid exam. In the past year or so, we have been making a shift towards stress free or fear free veterinary visits as much as we can. If a dog or cat does not handle a nail trim well and the pet gets stressed out during the nail trim, we will not proceed any further. We can have the doctor prescribe a sedative for future nail trims to try to help with making the pet more calm for another time. We will not proceed with stressful nail trims because Broadway Veterinary Hospital cares about your pet and does not want to harm your pet by holding it down while s/he tries to get away. Doing this will create a cycle where your pet will hate the vet more and more with each visit. We want just the opposite of that, we want to do anything we can to make your dog or cat love us. We also want to keep the Broadway Veterinary Hospital Team members safe and sometimes pets turn to biting or scratching out of fear if we push them too far. Our top priority at Broadway Veterinary Hospital is the safety of your pet and our staff and that is why Broadway Veterinary Hospital Loves Your Pet.
